We are fundraising to resurface and reopen our playground!
In 2005 we were so happy to finally have a real playground at HHRM! It was donated by the Alec William Nelson Foundation, family and friends after the tragic, accidental death of baby Alec William Nelson.
This playground has brought so much joy to thousands of children of our community since that time providing a safe, fun place to just play and be children in a kind, bully free, caring environment.
Things age over time and our playground surface tiles have aged and shrunk leaving dangerous gaps between the tiles that could cause children to trip and fall. and there is no other way to repair them than to resurface the playground. After checking for the best price with 3 different, reputable companies and checking to see if a company might outright donate or discount this service to help us, the best price that we could find is from Playsites & Surfaces in Central Islip. The Resurfacing (Pour In Place)-a thick rubberized surface is $14,350.00 and the cleaning of the equipment so that it can be ready to play is $1560.00. We're adding a photo of the pricing for you to look at.
We want to have our playground ready when school is to so that the children can play when they come. Many have already asked,"Mrs. Kim when can we play on the playground again." We want it to be soon. We are wanting to go to contract this job so that we can have it ready for them as soon as possible.
